Happy Place

Recently my family and I took a trip to Minneapolis, MN. In preparation I looked for great places to visit. Minnehaha Falls Regional Park became destination #1. Nature, family fun, food and lots of walking surrounded by beauty. It's everything.

The visit to the falls left me thinking and longing. I am in need of a new happy place. If I lived in Minneapolis, Minnehaha would fit the bill. However, I must work with where I am now. In the past my happy places have been my tub, the floor ("Mindy moment"), even the driver's seat of my car. The point is to focus in the moment and truly breathe. Life as a doctor's wife can be heavy. One has to be independent, flexible, and savvy.

Focusing on independence, there are many times I don't wait on my husband to do things. I can't, otherwise there'd be times I wouldn't accomplish much. The night shift stretch is not for the faint of heart. Therefore, while it's not frequent, there are consecutive days when I have to 100% hold down the fort. This is the critical time when a happy place is necessary. So, I've decided a weekly, yes weekly massage is my new happy place. I'm excited to schedule permanent me time and relax. With all the benefits that come with massage therapy it's an excellent happy place. Plus, when I close my eyes on a chaotic day, my relaxed muscles will be a nice reminder of the zen I enjoy on a weekly basis.

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing...
