The medical journey budget is real. There is so much promise and potential waiting in the wings. One day you will be able to afford so much and have access based on his prestigious career. However, on the day we needed groceries, this was irrelevant. Medical school for us meant being “temporarily financially deficit”. However, deficit does not equate to defeat.
As a stickler, the checkbook was always balanced. So when I knew the last purchase of groceries had a $49 budget, I went to the store to dominate. I spent $48.99. The grand total left in our checking account was $0.01 (confirmed by online banking and my register). Yet, I felt like I won super shopper of the year. Who could possibly feel this way with literally a penny? Well these days, I say the woman on her way to a JC Penney Penny Sale OR a woman of faith. I chose faith. God had us. We were in the black and ALL of our needs were fulfilled. Just remember He feeds the birds. On the pathway to medicine, never forget He’s got you too.
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”-Matthew 6:26
